Bleeding Gums

Do you ever experience bleeding from your gums when you brush your teeth or spit? Have you ever felt embarrassed when someone complaint about bad breath from your mouth?

If yes!

Then the reason can be your poor oral hygiene, aggressive brushing ,improper flossing or any medical condition.

The most common cause of bleeding gums is the accumulation of 'plaque' (yellow white substance on tooth surface that contain millions of bacteria) on your teeth due to poor oral hygiene that leads to swelling of gums which ultimately leads to bleeding.

The best way get rid of it is to visit your dentist and do "SCALING"

Scaling is actually professional deep cleaning to remove the hardened plaque above and below the gum , making sure to leave smooth tooth surface. Your dentist uses an Ultrasonic instrument that features a vibrating metal tip combined with a cool water spray. The tip cuts the hardened plaque away and the water flushes out the tartar from your mouth. Scaling is followed by polishing in some cases to remove stains which are left behind after scaling.

COMMON MYTH ABOUT SCALING:

The hardened plaque gives support to the tooth but it's actually "bad support" that need to be scraped off to get rid of bleeding gums.On removal of hardened plaque the gum recedes and tooth become loose but soon the gums clenches the teeth tightly making them free from plaque which is a house of millions of bacteria.

Scaling done every 6 months along with the use of soft bristle brush twice daily at home is recommended by majority of the dentists to have a healthy oral hygiene.
